3 TIPS ON GOING A HOSPITAL IN JAPAN
Dealing with health issue in a foreign country is never a pleasant experience. Here are 3 tips on going to a hospital in Japan:
There are very few general practitioners in Japan, small clinics cover most of illnesses, but many lack in-depth diagnistic tool and can not provide sireous trauma care. You should go to directly to a hospital if your condition worse than a cold. It’s very discouraging to go a clinic a wait for an hour, only to be told you need to go elewhere.
Hospital are separate into departments, and you will stop at front desk to check in, whether you know where you need going. You should tell the staff your problem, they will direct you to the department you need, if you need multible department, they will tell you where to go first.
If you don’t need immediate care, you will have to wait, sometime you will be given a number and told to wait until it is called or displayed on monitor. You need to follow the direction given you at front desk. If you are ever confused where you need to go or what you need to do, alway ask.
2. Don’t panic or get upset unless necessary
Panicking is rarely helpful for anything. You may know what is wrong with you, and you may even need to alert the doctors to other conditions you have, but the doctors and staff are not likely to work with you if you are in a frenzied state. Even if the nurse spills your blood vials or inserts your IV incorrectly, try not to lose your cool.
3. Check everything:
You need to to check everything and answer any questions from Doctors: where do you hurt ?, your symptom, your health history…
Before you leave doctor room, let’s check your prescription, remember all doctor’s advice.
