Why do you need a cholesterol test when you have an periodic health care check up ?
Screening: as part of a regular health exam with a lipid profile when no risk factors for heart disease are present.
Monitoring: may be done more frequently and at regular intervals when risk factors for heart disease are present, when prior results showed high risk levels, and/or when undergoing treatment for unhealthy lipid levels
Parameters in cholesterol testing:
Cholesterol: (3,9 – 5,2) mmol/L
Triglycerid: (0,46 – 1,88) mmol/L
HDL- Cho: >= 0,9 mmol/L
LDL- Cho: =< 3,4 mmol/L
Lipid: (4,0 – 7,0) g/l
